ABOUT THE ARTIST

Judith Ann Young was born in Cape Ann-the oldest art community in America . She grew up surrounded by the ocean and beaches , and exposed to such artists works as Fitz Hugh Lane , Walker Hancock , Aldro Hibbard , Paul Manship , Roger Curtis , Winslow Homer, Donald Mosher , Charles Movalli , Emile Gruppe, Michael Stoffa , Paul Strisik , Bette Lou Shlemm and other great Cape Ann artists.

Judith recieved her degree in fine arts as well as her teaching certification from Salem State College ,however, she found her greatest learning experience to be with Cape Ann's finest artists , especially watercolorist Margaret Laurie.

Her inspiration comes from a love of God and His creation , and the compelling feeling that these beautiful things must be recorded ! She also was blessed with two very creative parents who taught Judith a love of nature as well.

Judith moved to Macon , GA in 1992 , where she married her husband , Charlie . The beautiful countryside and historic farms became new subjects for her paintings. Macon is "Cherry Blossom Capitol"of the South , a historic city , rich in classical architecture from the pre-Civil War era. The old buildings and lavish gardens also became new subjects.Often her works are purchased by interested "locals" before they are completely dry !

Both in Massachusetts and in Georgia , she has been part of and/or member of the art associations and competitions, winning many 1st place ribbons and other awards. She taught for many years in the public schools before retiring to pursue her love for painting full time.

Presently she is a member of Macon Arts Alliance and the Middle Georgia Art Association. She is represented by the local galleries as well. Her works are in both corporate and private collections.
